A Birmingham abortion clinic has been ordered to shut down. Jefferson County Circuit Judge Joseph Boohaker sided with the state, which claimed the Southside clinic was operating without a license. The clinic claimed it was exempt, saying it didn't perform enough abortions to be covered under state regulations. But the judge disagreed, and issued a permanent injunction barring the doctor, Bruce Norman, from operating the facility as an abortion clinic. The facility was formerly known as the New Woman-All Women Clinic. It made national headlines in 1998, when Eric Rudolph bombed the clinic, killing an off-duty policeman and injuring a nurse.
