Some potential candidates for Congress are taking their names off the list. State Rep. Jack Williams (R-Vestavia) says he will not run for the seat being vacated by retiring Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-Vestavia). Williams says he loves his current job. State Sen. Cam Ward (R-Alabaster) also decided against a bid, citing a desire to put his family first. Another name frequently mentioned, Jefferson County Manager Tony Petelos, said he would not run, since he has a committment to the county. State Sen. Scott Beason (R-Gardendale) says he is considering another run for the seat. Beason challenged Bachus for the GOP nomination last year.
