A new challenge to Obamacare. The state joined with Catholic cable channel EWTN in filing a federal lawsuit over a provision requiring the Irondale-based network to provide health care services that violate Catholic teachings. "Procedures such as sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraceptives, all of which are considered moral evils by the Catholic church," said EWTN CEO Michael Warsaw. Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange says the lawsuit seeks to protect rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. "People in Alabama and around the country want to take their religion into their workplace, and other places, by living out their moral and religious beliefs," Strange said. "Whatever we personally may think about contraception and abortion-inducing drugs, the government should not be in the business of forcing people to violate their religious convictions."
