Hoover School Bus Driver Charged With DUI

A Hoover school bus driver was arrested Wednesday following a wreck.   State troopers say the bus went off I-459 northbound near Acton Road, and crashed into some trees.   No students were aboard the bus at the time.  The driver, who was not immediately identified, was arrested after authorities determined he was under the influence of alcohol.   He was charged with DUI, and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.   The Hoover school system released the following statement:

"We are looking into a matter involving one of our school bus drivers and a crash that occurred this afternoon just off of I-459. We are aware that state troopers have taken the bus driver into custody for suspicion of DUI. No students were on board at the time of the crash. The driver was completing his afternoon route and was returning the bus to its overnight location when he left the road.  We are in communication with Alabama State Troopers and will be conducting our own investigation. We will release more information at the appropriate time as this investigation continues."
